Friday Night at St. Paul’s is excited to announce its 2012-2013 Concert Series. Here are the dates of our upcoming concerts. Mark your calendars now. Tickets may be purchased online. Individual concert tickets are $15.00, children under 10 are free, Season Tickets are $75.00 and Sustaining Member tickets are $300. All ticket purchases are tax-deductible and support Friday Night at St. Paul’s concerts. October 19 – The Paul Moore Band

Paul Moore has been a familiar voice in the Philadelphia Irish Music scene for almost 25 years. The band performs traditional Irish music ranging from beautiful Irish ballads to foot-stomping jigs and reels. February 22 – DeVonne Gardner

“Every Man prays in his own language.”

DeVonne Gardner is a wonderfully talented soprano. Looking for a “young, clear-voiced, soprano” to sing in his Sacred Concerts, Gardner became Duke Ellington’s leading vocalist. Today she is still an active performer and teacher in Philadelphia and a rich repository of memories and hand-written revisions from the Sacred Concert tours. March 15 – Charlie Zahm

Charlie Zahm is one of the most popular soloists at Celtic music festivals, Maritime and Early American music events anywhere east of the Mississippi. With a baritone voice some have described as “coming along once in a generation,” Charlie weaves in magical moments of Scottish and Irish history for the listener and viewer. With his passion for the performance and a chosen repertoire pleasing to all members of the family, as well as master of the guitar, Charlie brings an authentic love and respect for the music he sings — and with a dash of humor. April 19 – Hickory Brass

From the Renaissance to present day. From the concert hall to the jazz club. From the church to the movie screen. The Hickory Brass entertains audiences with humor and excitement by featuring music that spans over 400 years. Whether performing high energy jazz, soulful ballads, or noble classics, the Hickory Brass creatively arranges each musical number to tell a story. These stories are woven into a program designed to give the listener a window into the power of music to create a deep and substantial connection to the people, places and events that shape our history.

The Hickory Brass is a collection of the Philadelphia area’s finest and most accomplished brass musicians. Each performer brings decades of performance experience and professionalism to the concert stage including appearances with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Philadelphia Opera Company, Philadelphia Ballet, Reading Symphony, and Reading Pops.

As an ensemble, the Hickory Brass has been featured throughout the region including appearances at Bethlehem’s Musikfest, the Reading Public Museum as well as NBC 10′s tribute to Memorial Day. The Hickory Brass has also participated in several collaborations with local choral and dance ensembles including the Brandywine Singers, the Brandywine Ballet and Abington Choral Club.

May 17 – Home Grown String Band

Audience favorite at festivals around the country! Inspired by the string bands of the 20th century, this 21st century incarnation of a traditional family band puts their own stamp on a repertoire drawn from the classics of rural American music. “There is something special about the music a family makes together.
